Era: 2010s
German JBO-free natural jute Asanawa rope company for shibari / kinbaku. The official site presents AMATSUNAWA as jute Asanawa ropes developed for prolonged skin contact in Kinbaku / Shibari use and 100% mineral-oil-free, with mission / quality-control notes around selected jute yarn, labs, growers, mills and specialist rope makers. KOUMANAWA's 2025 report gives the structural bridge: its managing-director history says Amatsunawa was founded as a sole-trader project in 2014 after visits to Japanese rope manufacturers, included Asanawa analysis with Shigonawa Bingo at Bar UBU in 2015, moved to European manufacturing in 2017, and was later sold / left before the KOUMANAWA phase.
